About us

Coda Consultants Ltd was formed in 2003 by David Noble. Since then Ellie Hooper, Bekir Yusuf and Gilly McLeod have joined the company and broadened our skills base.

We specialise in consultation-based research; gathering the views of the public in order to help improve the services that support their communities. We have developed market-leading expertise in consulting parents, carers, young people and practitioners.

Our research can be an effective tool for evidencing demand for new provision, such as free schools, or childcare settings. It can also function as outreach; providing powerful communications on the ground, direct to your client group.

Coda has been providing childcare sufficiency research for local authorities since 2005. We have undertaken a large number of full CSAs, as well as annual update reports. We have also worked on separate elements of the sufficiency cycle, such as devising systems and strategies to meet identified gaps.

For many years we have been successfully employing both these aspects of our work on projects for Sure Start Children’s Centres. We have worked with over 250 centres to date, helping them build their engagement and reach, reshape their service offer or simply get their message out.

Since 2014 we have been supporting children’s centres and local authorities to increase take-up of the two year old offer by reaching out to local families who are eligible for free places.

For the last four years we have been using our demand-evidencing skills to support groups applying to open a Free School or Academy. We support new schools at every stage of proposal and pre-opening, including management of the entire Section 10 statutory consultation process.
